This Yellow Gold World Time Patek Philippe Ref. 5110J-001 Is Complete. Accompanied with the certificate of origin, instruction manual and presentation box. This Watch is in excellent condition and has very crisp and legible hallmarks.
The Ref 5110J-001 is a yellow gold example with opaline white dial and tang buckle. Functions include a 24-hour and day/night indication for the 24 time zones. The case sized at 37mm features smooth straight lugs, and it is quintessentially Calatrava-esque in its shape. The hands, new at the time to Patek Philippe, are distinctive in their lozenge-shaped contour and compliment the applied inner hour baton markers perfectly. The centre of the dial features a beautiful hand-guilloch pattern, inspired by Patek Philippes past mastery of pocket watches. .
The time shown at twelve oclock is local time, with the cities to the East on the right, and the cities to the West on the left. The local time-zone can be easily changed by the pusher at ten oclock. When the pusher is pressed, three things happen simultaneously: the hour hand advances by one hour, while the city and twenty-four-hour disks move counter-clockwise by one time zone. If the hands previously indicated 10:15 as the local time for London, they now display 11:15 for Geneva.
Patek Philippe Ref 5110, was made from 2000 until 2006. It was the first world time model produced by Patek Philippe since the Ref. 2523 and is discontinued. The successor is the ref 5130.
