The 3940R-011 perpetual calendar automatic watch, features a 36 mm case. This is a rose gold example with a silver dial and rose gold deployant buckle. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, day, date, month, moon phase, leap year indicator and 24 hour indicator.

Reference 3940 was launched in 1985 to replace reference 3450. It is one of Patek Philippe's longest production model. Available in all precious metal, with very similar dial configuration, this reference is generally divided into three series with differences in hour markers or subdials.Production ceased in 2007, replaced by the reference 5140.
