Ref. 3940P-027

This Extremely Rare 1 OF 2 KNOWN Patek Philippe Ref. 3940P-027 Blue Dial, Platinum, Perpetual Calendar Is Complete. Accompanied with its certificate of origin, setting pin and automatic presentation box. This example is dated 2018, eleven years after the reference ceased production.

This Platinum 3940P-027 has a blue dial and leaf shape hour and minute hands. Patek Philippes choice of leaf hands for this sub-reference over the dauphine hands used on the original Reference 3940 variants, while the small pyramid-shaped at 3, 5, 7, and 9. During the long lifetime (1985 to 2007) of Reference 3940, there was never a platinum variant with blue dial.

Patek Philippe provided an opportunity for an extremely small and select group of clients to purchase the reference 3940P-027 with blue dial. Although it is not known how many were produced, as only two pieces are extant, it is reasonable to assume that the final number was exceedingly small.

Reference 3940 was launched in 1985 to replace reference 3450. It is one of Patek Philippe's longest production models. Available in all precious metals, with very similar dial configuration, this reference is generally divided into three series with differences in hour markers or sub-dials. Production ceased in 2007, replaced by the reference 5140.
